Ila McCallum has been sewing since she was a small child and made clothing for herself and her children. Twelve years ago she decided to make a quilted wall hanging for a Christmas present and found her passion in quilting. After becoming proficient as a quilter, she started teaching quilting classes and sharing her passion and knowledge with others. She teaches many quilting classes including both technique and project classes in local shops and on QuiltUniversity.com. She also designs and writes the patterns for the Strip Club for Sharon's Attic Quilt Shop.
Ila always has several quilts in progress and several quilts in the planning stages. She has shown quilts in local and regional quilt shows and several of her quilts have won ribbons.
Ila is continually learning and growing in the art of quilting. She has taken classes and workshops from many nationally known quilters and attends local, regional and national quilting shows. She shares her knowledge freely with her students and shares in their joy of accomplishment. |

Lauria has two daughters and is married to a very tolerant husband, who doesn’t mind that she have taken over the basement with all her fabrics and sewing supplies. Her mother enjoyed sewing; therefore she learned to sew when she was nine years old. Thinking that quilting was done by “old ladies” who sat around a quilt frame, sewing by hand, she chose to make garments and doll clothes. Lauria continued sewing through high school, and received the Home Economics award when she graduated. Upon discovering that there where actually “quilt stores”, and that quilts can be made completely by a machine, she learned how to quilt in 2003. Since then Lauria have found a true passion (addiction) to quilting and has gone on to share her hobby.
