If you sew, sooner or later you end up with stray buttons. They may be a couple left over from a garment project or something you inherited from your grandmother's sewing basket; some quilters actually collect unusual or antique buttons. Most of the time, you end up with an assortment of different buttons that don't match. What to do with them? They can be worked into a Crazy Quilt, if that's your cup of tea or you can make this lovely embroidered medallion sampler with stitches that embrace each button in a delicate frame hand embroidered on a ground of appliqued wool. Though they appear intricate, the embroidery is made up of simple compounded stitches.

Cost: $ 50.00
Origami is an art form dating back at least 1000 years in Japan. Originally used to make ceremonial objects, Origami evolved over the centuries into the decorative craft it is today. Designs representing birds, animals, and flowers have long fascinated the world particularly the math and engineering involved in creating a three dimensional object from a flat surface through folding. Typically folded from paper, Origami can be made from stiffened fabric as well. In Japan, cranes are particularly revered and it is said that folding 1000 Origami cranes will carry one’s prayers to heaven on their wings and your heart’s desire will come true. There will be a selection of Origami designs to make.

Cost: $ 30.00
Machine Applique with fusible web is fast and easy to do. The project in this class is a good introduction to fused applique and features a sprig of cherry blossoms. There are two styles of blossoms to chose from and two project choices – a small wall quilt, or an elegant table runner with a Yukata style cherry branch at either end.
