Paisley Panache
Paisleys – otherwise known as Persian Pickles – are a classic teardrop shaped Middle Eastern design. They gained popularity in Victorian era England as the British Empire spread to India. Paisleys are said to be based on a vegetable or seed shape and symbolize life and regeneration. Most are intricately embellished with exotic floral motifs and swirls which provide lots of potential for hand embroidery. In this class you will learn how to design your own Persian Pickles to applique in wool or felt and enhance with a variety of simple hand embroidered stitches. In class, you will make just the center panel which can be extended with borders and incorporated into a pillow, table mat, or small wall hanging. Skill Level: Confident Beginner
